– In Colorado 1 in 4 women will experience sexual assault in their lifetime
– In Colorado, 1 in 17 men will experience sexual assault in their lifetime
– In the United States, approximately 1,900 women are sexually assaulted every day

– 38% of rapists are a friend or acquaintance

Victims of sexual assault are:
– 3 times more likely to suffer from depression
– 6 times more likely to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder
– 13 times more likely to abuse alcohol
– 26 times more likely to abuse drugs
The Offender:
– Average age of a rapist is 31 years old
– 52% are white
– 22% of imprisoned rapists report they are married
– Juveniles accounted for 16% of forcible rape arrests in 1995 and 17% those were arrested for other sex offenses
